Why is it that five decades after the 1950s, new films of the Beats are in production? Why indeed, does the Beat Generation continue to intrigue the young and old both in this country and abroad? In addition to reading and remembering the Beat, author Robert Briggs says it’s time to seriously look at this question. In his provocative Jazz and Poetry & Other Reasons, Opus Six, Briggs explains to a growing following why the existential soul of the Beat seldom goes unremembered. Weaving his own personal experiences of those times in a performance of poetry and insight he reveals the enigma of those past Beat women and men who reflect and shine critical light on the cultural confusion in present-day America.
